A Chinese Han dynasty unglazed terracotta lian. Unglazed lians are quite unusual and this one has an exquisitely aged patina. Unglazed pottery like this dates to the Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD). The lian was used as a container for wine, which was ladled out of as depicted in banquet scenes on stones of pottery slabs lining the burial chamber. The lian was also used to store cosmetics.
