The Story:

A special Swedish Gustavian period painted secretary with library, circa 1810. The upper section has two shelves, behind large reeded doors. The lower section has a slant front with three graduated drawers on either side of a center door all behind the writing surface. Beneath the slant front are wood supports that pull out to support the desk surface. There are four graduated drawers below the drop-front desk.

The Gustavian Style, named after King Gustav III of Sweden, is a restrained interpretation of the French Louis XV and Louis XVI style. King Gustav III was enamored with the neoclassical style and therefore created his own interpretation for Sweden.
