A 19th century Swedish Gustavian period cabinet from Stockholm dry scraped back to reveal the original paint and natural wood surface. Circa 1810.  Beautifully carved molding around the top, two large reeded doors above three long drawers, and raised upon tapered legs.  The interior is painted a gorgeous, soft aqua/turquoise and has two fixed shelves. The shelves are 12″ deep and 35″ wide. Original hardware and 2 keys.

The Gustavian style, named after King Gustav III of Sweden, is a restrained interpretation of the French Louis XV and Louis XVI style. King Gustav III was enamored with the neoclassical style and therefore created his own beautiful interpretation for Sweden. The Gustavian style originated in the late 1700’s, inspired by French Neoclassicism, and is still highly sought after today.
