The Story:

A classic Gustavian period sofa from Lindome, Sweden that has been hand-scraped down to the original creamy white paint. The back and seat frame are adorned with a carved egg and dart pattern. There are carved rosettes at each corner post and the tapered and fluted legs feature fluted, round caps. This bench would make a wonderful banquette for a breakfast room or kitchen. The arm height is 24.57 inches measured at the front of the arm and 25.25 inches at the upholstered part of the arm. The Gustavian Style, named after King Gustav III of Sweden, is a restrained interpretation of the French Louis XV and Louis XVI style. King Gustav III was enamored with the neoclassical style and therefore created his own interpretation for Sweden.
