The Story:

A Gustavian period sofa bench from the 18th century. Hand scraped to the original paint. Made by chair maker Jacob Malmsten, Stockhom 1780-1788. This piece is exceptionally well made and has retained its original webbing. The back, arms, and seat frame are adorned with a carved guilloché pattern. There are carved rosettes at each corner post and the tapered and fluted legs feature fluted, round caps. This bench would make a wonderful banquette for a breakfast room or kitchen.
