The Story:

An 18th century two-part Swedish linen press or armoire from the Rococo period. Provenance on the inside doors dates piece to 1796 and 1826. This period Rococo marriage cabinet is from Värmland and is known as a “Fryksdals Cabinet.” It was given to 2 different couples (see initials) as a marriage gift, the first in 1796 and second in 1826. This cabinet is beautifully proportioned with a gracefully arched pediment cornice and scalloped apron. The patina is a soft, neutral gray with wood showing through in areas and original surface on the interior. The interior upper section contains 3 fixed shelves, the top shaped and slotted for spoons, and a bottom shelf fitted with 4 small drawers. The bottom cabinet has 1 fixed shelf.
