The Story:

An exceptionally rare, hand-carved Swedish Gustavian period sofa or daybed, circa 1790 from Stockholm, hand-scraped to reveal the original paint surface and newly newly upholstered in antique linen with a hand-stitched tufted seat and side bolster pillows. The carving and plaster detail is incredible with rosette and leaf carvings around the entire frame and legs adorned with acanthus leaves. The center back of the sofa features a pair of cherubs mounted on top of lions and holding torches with a center floral urn motif. The sides of the sofa are 37″ high.
