A French, beautifully carved pine trumeau with carved basswood detail from the 18th century in original paint with original mercury glass.  The motif is typical for the end of the 18th century in France, featuring a basket with trailing flowers.  There is the pleasant pattern of the basket, which is a great classic and cascading flowers flowing from the basket, signifying abundance.
