The Story:

A fine English walnut and ebony seaweed marquetry chest of drawers from the William & Mary period, circa 1690. Ogee molded top with a central banded oval inlaid with exquisite hand-cut marquetry of birds, flowers, and foliated scrolls that resemble seaweed on an ebony ground. Two short, over three, long, graduating drawers inlaid with similar reserves of marquetry. Each drawer is adorned with brass escutcheons and teardrop handles. A large reserve of marquetry is centrally located on each side, depicting a bird perched above scrolls of leaves. Rests upon bun feet.
