There is also a 'sister' bench available. Please inquire for details. This is a richly carved 19th century Swedish painted long bench in the Gustavian style. There is a carved guilloche pattern on the seat frame and carved rosettes above fluted, round caps, ending in tapered and fluted legs. Chalky Gustavian gray-white paint finish.
The Gustavian style, named after King Gustav III of Sweden, is a restrained interpretation of the French Louis XV and Louis XVI style. King Gustav III was enamored with the neoclassical style and therefore created his own interpretation for Sweden.
