A beautifully carved Swedish sofa bench from the Gustavian period, hand-scraped to reveal the original paint surface and newly upholstered in linen with side bolster pillows, circa 1800. The back and seat frame feature carved lamb's tongue detail with carved rosettes and ball finials on the corner posts. The front legs are adorned with lotus flowers. The back is unfinished. This sofa would work well at the end of a bed, or in a front entry, hallway, or sitting room, or as a banquette for a breakfast room.
