The French Butcher Table

The French table du boucher, or butcher table, has been an object of our affection for quite some time.  Kendall is fortunate to own two.

These beautiful tables are typically 19th century and feature a cast and wrought iron base with a marble top.  Some were used to prepare meat, while others were reserved as presentation tables in the shop's window.

Of course a butcher table makes sense in a kitchen.  We love them as a small island when extra counter space is needed.  But don't overlook other areas.  Kendall has placed one of her butcher tables in the bay window of her dining room.  It works beautifully as a dessert table or table for cocktails when entertaining.

The butcher table gets its character from the base.  There are many interesting forms.

We are Maison & Co.  Fresh.  Beautiful.  Timeless.

We found this butcher table in Provence this summer and love its lyre base and beautiful color.

This is an other charming butcher table that we found in Provence this summer.

We especially love this butcher table for its highly unusual oval shape and pale green patina.  It would shine in an entry paired with a beautiful chair.
